Troops make up the focal point of your entire city. The more troops you hold within your city the better your defenses, the more resources you can collect, the more Beasts you can hunt, the more enemies you can destroy.
Troops are trained within the Barracks. When you start the game you only have access to the basic, first Tier of troops. Better troops are unlocked within the War Temple. There are 4 Tiers of troops. Each Tier better than the last, with improved statistics. Within each troop tier there are different troop types:
Infantry
Infantry troops are the basic unit that focuses on simple melee combat. They gain a boost in battle when facing enemy Cavalry troops. You need to be careful though, because enemy Ranged units gain a boost in battle against your Infantry troops.
The Infantry troops are:

Cavalry troops are the basic unit that focuses on mounted combat. They gain a boost in battle when facing enemy Ranged troops. You need to be careful though, because enemy Infantry units gain a boost in battle against your Cavalry troops.

The Plunderer troops are:
Siege
Siege weapons are a specialized unit that focuses on breaking down enemy Fortifications. They gain a boost in battle when facing enemy Traps and Fortifications. They don't provide much strength in battles that do not include Traps or Fortifications, nor can they carry any loot.
The Siege troops are:
Undead
Undead troops are a specialized unit that cannot be trained in the Barracks. They are created in battle when you lose troops. Whenever your troops die, a percentage is resurrected into undead troops. They count as Infantry for the purposes of battle bonuses but they are much weaker in battle.
