New Basic Resource: Mana
What is Mana?
Mana

is a powerful, magical resource introduced with the arrival of the Woodelves in Chapter IX.
Mana is a vital energy that helps you reconnect your city with the natural flow of life and knowledge.
How to Produce Mana
Mana is produced by special cultural buildings. But not every cultural building will generate Mana—only specific ones, and they must be connected to your city’s streets to start producing.
This adds a new layer of challenge: you will need to carefully plan your city layout to ensure street access to your Mana-producing buildings.
What is Mana Used For?
Mana is essential for several key activities:
From now on, Mana will be part of your everyday city management, playing a crucial role in your progress.
Mana Decay – Use It or Lose It!
Mana comes with a unique twist: it decays over time.
You can store Mana for a while, but every day you will lose a small amount as it naturally returns to the environment.
Once Mana is spent, it’s safe—you’ll never lose what you’ve already used.
The decay rate is moderate (10% of your Mana storage overnight), but you’ll need to manage it carefully, especially when you need to accumulate large amounts for future technologies.
Mana is Here to Stay
Unlike settlement-specific resources from earlier chapters (like Fairy Dust or Orc Dung), Mana remains a permanent resource throughout the rest of the game: from Chapter IX onwards, you will always have cultural buildings that produce Mana, and these buildings will continue to require street connections to function.
So, learning to manage Mana isn’t just for the Woodelves chapter—it’s a skill you will need in all future chapters.
