Mechanics: Master the Merge in This Year’s Anniversary Event
Prepare yourself for a dazzling journey as we bring back the much-loved merge mechanic, enhanced with exciting tools and strategies. Unlock gems, combine key parts, and claim fantastic rewards as you progress through this adventure!
Start with the Gems
Once spawned, you can use your moveable gem to “break the glass” of a locked gem, freeing it and leveling it up! Every unlocked gem brings you closer to the Grand Prize, with higher-level gems offering even bigger rewards. And here’s a tip: each gem color offers unique rewards. Use the handy Cheat Sheet under your board to track which prizes are tied to which colors.
Combine Key Parts into Full Keys
Locked gems don’t just reward you with treasures—they also hold key parts: either a top or a bottom. Merge two locked gems with complementary key parts (matching in color, level, and type) to create a full key. Once complete, feed these full keys into the Converter to unlock them and free up space on your board.
Want to maximize your progress? Bigger gems yield more keys, so aim for high-level merges. You can also snag an extra key daily through Daily Challenges or lucky finds from Incidents around your city. Remember: key parts are only found on locked gems—you won’t find them on spawned pieces, so plan your moves carefully!
Boosters to the Rescue
Sometimes the path to progress needs a little extra push. That’s where boosters come in to supercharge your strategy:| Gem Mines Booster: Spawn additional gems directly onto your board—perfect for unlocking tricky sections. If there’s no room, don’t worry, you’ll get a notification to plan your moves. | |
| Gem Pickaxe Booster: Break down a higher-level gem into two lower-level pieces, giving you more flexibility for unlocking and merging. And yes, if the original gem had a key part, both new pieces will inherit it. | |
| Prismatic Essence Booster: Turn all gems of a single color on your board into versatile colorless gems, which can merge with any color. However, colorless gems can’t be fed into the Converter until they adopt a color, so time your moves strategically! |
Unlock Treasure Chests
Clearing the Board
Clearing all locked gems on the board comes with bonus rewards and additional keys. Here’s what you’ll earn based on what’s left on your board:- 1 key for every 10 unlocked gems of the same type without key parts.
- 1 key for every 4 unlocked gems of the same type with a key part.
- 1 key for every full key gem on the board.
| Pro Tip: Always convert full keys on your Level 4 gems before resetting the board. Resetting without converting will only yield 1 key per full key, regardless of gem size, so maximize those rewards before hitting reset. |
Resetting the Board
Feel stuck? No worries! You can reset the board anytime. Your first reset of the day is free, and additional resets cost Energy, with the cost resetting daily. Resetting with locked gems still on the board forfeits completion rewards, but it can be worth it to refresh your options and keep progressing.Quick Tips
- Daily Challenges: Complete these for Event Keys or extra Energy to keep your progress going.
- Event Incidents: Look around your city for bonus Energy or other rewards to help you on your journey.
- Certain Gems Appear More Often: Depending on the level, each of the three available levels has its own color focus. Playing large amounts of levels averages out any color difference though.
- Chest Rotation: Your first chest of the day is doubled, so consider opening smaller chests the night before to reset the rotation and optimize your rewards for the next day.
