Towns

Towns play a central role in The West. Here, you can bond with other players and help build a strong, powerful community.
Every building you work on provides advantages for you and your fellow town members.

You can only be a member of one town at a time.
To join a new town, you must first leave your current one. After a short waiting period, you’ll be able to join another town.

Any town can either join an existing alliance or found a new one.
Alliances allow for easier coordination during fort battles, restrict fort battle sign-ups, and grant you the ability to sleep in any fort owned by alliance members.

Town budlings

With the help of other town members, you can construct various buildings in your town. Just like any other job, building construction requires labor points. Each additional level of a building requires 15 more labor points than the previous one.

Motivation also applies to construction. Lower motivation results in fewer construction points being added during work.
Construction motivation is individual for each player - it does not apply to the town as a whole..

Each building requires a certain number of construction points to level up. The higher the building level, the more points are needed.
Construction is a slow process - you make only limited progress with an hour of work.

You can view a building’s progress via the yellow progress meter in your Town Hall, located next to each building’s name.
Any town member can contribute to construction, provided they have enough labor points for the job.

Town Hall
3f43b2ad2bb145b529180aca877624b3

The Town Hall serves as a central gathering place for town members.
New construction projects are initiated here, and new players can be invited to join the town.

With each level the Town Hall is upgraded, the difficulty of constructing all other buildings is reduced by 5 labor points per level. The maximum construction level for the Town Hall is 10.

Construction

Under Construction, you can view the existing buildings in your town and their current levels. You can also choose a building to work on.
Any town member can contribute to any building. Building a large town requires the combined effort of many players.
The construction meter shows how close a building is to reaching the next level. Once the meter reaches 100%, the building levels up.
When a building reaches its maximum level, the meter turns gray.

In the Town Hall menu, select a building and click Construction to begin working on it.
This works similarly to other jobs - you need labor points to perform the task.
The more labor points you have, the more construction points you will contribute.

Constructing buildings is expensive. You can use your own cash or the town treasury to pay for construction work.
Each hour of work costs $240.

If you don’t have enough labor points for the selected building, you can:

  • Work on a different building,

  • Work on the Town Hall, or

  • Assign more skill points to increase your labor points.

For every level added to the Town Hall, the construction difficulty of all other buildings is reduced by 5 points.

Residents
Here you can view all members of your town.
You’ll see their town role (founder, counselor, or citizen), their level, activity, how much money they’ve deposited into the town treasury, and how many hours they’ve contributed to building construction.
If you wish to leave the town, you can do so from this menu as well.

Church
The church is a place for private prayer.
The effects of praying are known only to the game developers and are not disclosed to players.

Each prayer session takes 15 minutes.
The church has no maximum level - it can be upgraded indefinitely.

Bank

You can secure your money in your personal bank account. Only the money in the bank is safe from being taken during a duel.

You do not need to withdraw money to spend it - merchants will take the required amount from your on-hand cash first, and then from your bank account if you don’t have enough.

To deposit money into your bank account, you must visit a town bank. Deposits come with fees that depend on the level of the bank. Each construction level of the bank reduces the deposit fees.

From the bank, you can also transfer money into the town treasury. This money can be used to finance future town buildings or fort battles only.
Once deposited into the treasury, it cannot be withdrawn.

The bank's maximum level is 10.

    This includes:

    • their dueling level

    • the experience you will gain if you win

    • the travel time to reach the player

    • either a link to queue a duel with that player or an explanation of why you cannot

Also, not every construction level adds new items for every category.
The maximum construction level of the tailor is 25.

Building up your own shops has an additional advantage beyond offering more items: town members receive discounts on all items sold in their town’s stores. Foreigners, on the other hand, are charged four times the market value that town members pay.

The Gunsmith is a merchant where you can purchase melee weapons, firearms, and fort guns.
To buy a weapon, simply click on it and confirm your selection, or drag the item into your inventory and confirm.

To collect the bounty, players must win a duel against the wanted player.
As you reach higher levels, bounties will be displayed over a larger radius around your town.

Market

At the Market, players can create auctions to sell unwanted items or bid on auctions created by others.
To post an item for sale, you must be in a town that has a market.
Posting fees are significantly affected by the market’s level - the higher the level, the lower the fees.

Mortician

The Mortician is required to challenge other players to a duel.
If your town does not have a Mortician, you cannot initiate duels, but other players can still challenge you.
The Mortician building has only one level.

You can also use the Mortician to view the dueling statistics of the town it is located in.
The Mortician's statistics include:

  • Total number of duels
  • Number of duels won
  • Number of duels lost
  • Difference between the duels won and lost
  • Number of passed out opponents
  • Number of passed out town members
  • Number of honorable duels
  • Number of dishonorable duels
  • Highest counting hit received in a duel
  • Highest counting hit in a duel

Hotel
faf99d8c6e4f40b0eb757c3b81153a21

In the hotel, you can sleep.
While sleeping, you regenerate energy and health points much faster than usual.
No one can challenge you to a duel while you are in a hotel.

If you are knocked out in a duel, pass out in a fort battle, or collapse from injuries sustained during work, you will be taken to the hotel in your own town. If you are not a member of a town, you will be taken to the nearest hotel to where you passed out.

Higher-level hotels offer better rooms.
These rooms cost more money but allow you to regenerate faster.
Staying in the hotel in your own town is free of charge.

The maximum construction level of the hotel is 5.

Residences
3e128e430cfe75a45db00869097edef9

The amount received depends on the level of the town’s cinema.

The cinema can be upgraded to a maximum level of 5.

Founding towns

To found a town, you need $300 and 80 energy points.
Locations where you can found a town are shown on the map like any other job site, marked with an icon of a spade on a blue background.

Founding a town takes 8 hours, regardless of whether the world uses a one-hour or two-hour job system.
You can freely choose the town’s name, but it must be unique.

Note: You will not see the "Found town" option if you are currently a member of a town.
You must leave your current town first.

Joining towns

To become a member of a town, you either need to receive an invitation or the town must be listed on the blackboard.
Only a town's leadership can send invitations.

Joining a town is very important, as The West thrives on teamwork.
Especially for new players, it's often better to join an existing town rather than founding your own.

Here are a few tips for choosing a good town:

  1. It’s usually not effective to message the top-ranked town (#1), as the chances of getting an invitation are very low.

  2. It's better to contact towns whose members are ranked similarly to you.

Leaving towns
To leave a town, go to the Town Hall and select Residents. From there, choose Leave Town.
You will receive a confirmation alert notifying you that you will need to wait at least 2 hours before being able to join another town.

Each time you leave a town, 2 hours are added to your waiting time.
To reduce this time, stay in one town - your join timer will decrease by 5 minutes for every full day you remain in the same town.

Important: If you have joined a pending fort battle, you will not be able to leave your town until:

  • The battle has finished (if you participate), or

  • The battle has started (if you don’t).

When a town founder becomes inactive or leaves the town, town councillors can claim the founder position by clicking on the large black hat icon.
If there are no councillors, any citizen may claim the town founder position.

Ghost towns

Ghost towns are abandoned towns that form when the last member leaves.
Buildings in ghost towns can no longer be used - the hotel, bank, and merchants all shut down.

However, it is possible to reawaken a ghost town.
Reviving a ghost town costs the same as founding a new one, but the major advantage is that all buildings retain their previous levels.
When taking over a ghost town, you will see the town points that it will have after reactivation.

If a player who sold you an item on the market leaves their town before you can retrieve the item, you can still collect it by going to the ghost town and clicking "Accept the market delivery".
