New Settlement: Pirates

Ahoy, Travelers!

You asked for it, captains—and we’ve answered the call! The Pirates Settlement, voted for by players, invites you to join a daring crew of privateers, build your own bustling cove, and claim your share of the treasure for your City.

The Pirates Settlement will be available on the Beta server starting November 12th

How to Start

To begin your voyage:

Progress through the tech tree to the Colonial Age and unlock Trading Charters.
Open the Settlements menu and select Pirates (make sure you have no active Settlement running).

You’ll be greeted by the fearsome Klaus Störtebeker, who will guide you with quests as you build up your outpost and earn celebration-worthy rewards!

Build Your Cove

When your City floats upon the waves, who needs roads? As with our most recent Polynesia Settlement, your buildings here don’t require streets, giving you full freedom to design a compact, efficient layout that fits your strategy.

Impediments

As you stake your claim on the cove, you’ll spy a few shipwrecks cluttering the shallows—remnants of less-lucky crews. Clear these impediments with pickaxes earned from your quests, or part with a few Diamonds if you fancy a quicker way to open waters.

Blackmarket Dice Minigame

Continue developing your pirate paradise by doing more quests and eventually you will be able to access the Blackmarket. Visit it to try your luck in a fast, tactical dice game:

Choose one of three randomly offered goods to play for.
The goods on offer will be a range - the exact amount you win depends on your success in the dice game!
Roll five dice with up to three free rerolls per turn.

Tip: Tap or click on a dice to lock it in, then reroll the rest. Select the dice from the bottom bar to add them back to the pack to re-roll. Aim for stronger combinations (pairs, straights, full house, four/five-of-a-kind).

The stronger the combination you make, the higher your rewards! Check the deck sheet to the right to see which combinations are possible, and which you have currently rolled.
Claim goods based on your best combination; you can dismiss the daily offer and check back the next day if you prefer.
Optional premium lets you buy extra rerolls or boost the payout—completely up to you.

This minigame is not mandatory; it’s simply a handy way to top up your Settlement goods in a minute or two.

Rewards

Main Reward: Pirate Treasure Cove

Complete play-throughs of the Settlement to earn the 3x5 Pirate Treasure Cove and its Upgrade Kits, taking it all the way to Level 9. Expect a generous mix of combat boosts and City economy value—perfect for captains who like their treasure to pull its weight.

Level 1 is awarded on your first completion.
Further completions award upgrade kits to rise through the levels.
An Ascended version can be obtained later via special kits.

Time-Challenge Reward: Blackbeard's Hideout

Beat the Settlement within the time thresholds to gather Fragments for the 2x2 Blackbeard's Hideout (up to Level 5). It’s a compact hideaway with treasure enough to make any captain grin.

New Emissaries

Recruit infamous legends to your Town Hall:

(As usual, one Emissary also unlocks an additional Emissary slot—keep an eye on your quest and playthrough rewards.)

Achievement

Curse of the Seven Seas — Progress this achievement as you finish the Settlement multiple times.

Tips for a Smooth Voyage

Plan your space: the Settlement offers a healthy set of expansions; place goods and diplomacy buildings early to keep momentum.
Use the Blackmarket when you’re short on a specific good; dismiss offers you don’t need and check back the next day.
Complete on time to scoop up Blackbeard's Hideout Fragments alongside your main playthrough rewards.
