What is damage over time?
Some heroes apply damage over time, also known as dot-damage. Damage over time does not apply (all of its) damage directly on hit, but rather over a period of time. The damage over time will apply their damage either until the timer on the damage over time has run out or if the hero to which the damage over time was applied has died.
If a hero dies from damage over time, this damage over time will not apply to other heroes or units (that are unaffected) unless otherwise stated. Examples of dot-damage are bleed, burn and poison. Some heroes apply one kind of dot-damage while others heroes may apply different sources of dot-damage.
Multiple sources of damage over timeWhat happens if the same hero or unit is hit with multiple sources of dot-damage?
These are the ground rules:
- There is no limit on the amount of different damage over time types that can be applied to a hero/unit simultaneously;
- All bleed stacks without limitation;
- Burns from different sources stack;
- Multiple burns from the same hero do not stack and instead refresh the existing burn debuff;
- Poison from different sources stack;
- Multiple poisons from the same hero do not stack and instead refresh the existing poison debuff.
