Traveling Merchant

fc09da0a4c6c9c3a5763d4730c038d14The traveling merchant Midas is back and again in need of your help! Your job will be to guard him during his travels and make sure he reaches his destination.

Defeating the Raiders
During this event, you have to defend the merchant Midas by battling incoming groups of raiders with your band of mercenaries. Each one of them has different strengths and weaknesses.
The raiders you encounter are randomly chosen from a pool of varying units with different offensive and defensive values. In each encounter you will have to use your men wisely, to be victorious.

The battle will happen in turns. At the bottom of the battle screen, you will see which unit will attack when. When one unit attacks another it will reduce the defensive value by a randomly chosen value within its attacking power. Once a unit's defensive value is reduced to zero it is knocked out. But don't worry if your mercenary gets knocked out. He will be available again in the next battle.

At the bottom of the screen, you can find a bar displaying the order in which the units will attack. The active unit is displayed by having a bigger icon. To attack a unit, simply click on it. An arrow will show you which unit was attacked and a number will display the damage it took. To speed up the animations and save some precious time, you will find an option at the very bottom of the battle screen.

If you think a battle is too tough to win, you can use the "Retreat!" button found on the battle screen. This will end the battle immediately, but it will count as a loss, including all the negative effects. Winning a battle against bandits will move your caravan forward, and your mercenaries will gain experience, making them stronger over time. Their attack and defense stats will increase, but keep in mind that future enemies will also get stronger.

You can fight as often as you want, but mercenaries will only gain experience from the first 20 battles each day. Chests, however, always give experience, no matter how many battles you've done.

Opening Chests
When all the raiders' units are defeated, you will be rewarded with a chest. Each chest can contain several items, including experience for your mercenaries. To see what could be inside, simply click on the chest. Opening a chest takes some time, and you can carry a maximum of three at once. If you reach the limit, you won’t find any new chests until you free up space, so make sure to unlock them regularly.

As your mercenaries gain experience, their attack and defense stats will improve, but they’ll also face tougher enemies in future battles. You’ll also earn extra rewards from Merchant Midas when you reach certain milestones along the road. These rewards are displayed at the top of the screen. Only successful battles bring you closer to the next milestone. Losing a battle will set you back slightly on your progress.
