Goods are important resources which will be needed for a couple of different ingame features. You can get goods as a quest reward, from incidents or from the Guild Expeditions. Certain Great Buildings and Special Buildings also produce goods. Normally you would need to build Goods Buildings to produce certain goods there. You can produce up to five different goods per age.
Since neither the buildings, nor the productions are cheap it makes sense to only build the goods buildings for which you already have founds the Goods Deposit on the Campaign Map. If you have found a Good Deposit then your production in a Goods Buildings will be boosted and you will produce five times more good than without. Until the Modern Era you will find two different Goods Deposits per age. Therefore it's not possible to have access to all Goods Deposits per age. Other needed Goods can be traded with other Players against the Goods you produce yourself.
You will need Goods to negotiate Sectors without fighting, to unlock new Technologies, to negotiate in the Guild Expeditions and to complete certain Quests or Daily Challenges. There is no Good which will not be needed, even though it may seem otherwise at first.
